How to: Disassemble and Reassemble
the Mosin-Nagant
and M-44 Rifles

Disassembly
Instructions
1) For a Mosin-Nagant 1891/30 Rifle - Omit any
instructions pertaining to a bayonet. Make sure the rifle is
pointed in a safe direction and unloaded.
2) Remove the bolt from the rifle.
3) Loosen the screw holding the bayonet
on the rifle but do not remove.
4) Pull back on the bayonet lock and remove
the retaining screw.
5) Take the screw and place it in the bayonet
hole and set aside.
6) Remove the screw on the small metal cap
on the front end of the rifle stock.
7) Remove the small cap on the front of
the rifle and set aside.
8) Depress the retaining springs on the
rifle stock and slide off the stock rings.
9) Slide both stock rings to the font of
the barrel. You don't have to remove them all the way to remove
the stock. Once you have, remove the top handguard and set aside.
10) Open the magazine catch.
11) Squeeze the magazine cover together
once open and pull away from the magazine. Set aside.
12) Remove the screw in the magazine and
trigger guard assembly and set it aside.
13) Remove the Screw from the top and rear
of the receiver.
14) You should now be able to remove the
trigger guard and magazine assembly from the rifle.
15) Slowly lift out the receiver.
16) Pivot receiver and barrel forward and
remove from stock.
17) Unscrew both screws holding in rifle
butt plate and set aside.
