I have found that padded rubber, quick
clamps are invaluable in disassembling
firearms. I take a small slender tool like a
steel punch and lay it against the upper
band spring as pictured in figure 7. Then I
compress it against the spring with the
quick clamp. This leaves my hands free to
remove the upper band.
8)
Using non-marring tools such as a wooden
dowel and a mallet, tap off the upper band.
9)
Remove the upper band.
10)
Compress the lower band spring.
11) If
tight, tap the lower band over the lower
spring.
12) Once started you can remove the clamp
and continue to tap the lower band forward.
13) Slide the lower band off of the barrel.
14) Unscrew the rear sight screw.
15) Remove the rear sight screw.
16) Depress the magazine catch.
17) Slightly slide the magazine floor plate
to the rear and remove.

from the magazine floor plate.

follower.
20) Unscrew the rear guard screw.
21) Unscrew the forward guard screw.
22) Remove the forward guard screw.
23) Remove the rear guard screw.
24) Remove the guard. If the guard is
difficult to remove you can turn the rifle
over and tap the guard out from the top
using a wooden dowel.
25) Separate the barreled receiver from the
rifle stock.
26) Lift the rear sight.
27) Lift the hand guard and rotate in either
direction 90 degrees.
28) Remove the hand guard and lower the rear
sight.
29) Using a punch, tap out the sear pin.
30) Remove the sear pin and separate the
trigger assembly from the receiver.
31) Remove the sear spring.
32) Tap out the trigger pin.

40)
Place a flat blade screw driver in the
indentation at the forward part of the rear
sight leaf.
41) Push down on the rear sight leaf with
the screw driver while pulling the rear
sight leaf to the rear. This will
allow you to remove the rear sight leaf.
42)
Lift the rear sight base from the front.

44) Remove the rear sight leaf spring from
the base.
