45) Remove the sear pin.
46) Figure 46 shows the top of the disconnector as seen from the top of the rear frame.
47) Carefully push out the disconnector.
48) Remove the disconnector and sear assembly.
49) Separate the disconnector and sear. Note the disconnector is pictured on the left and the sear is pictured on the right.
50) Depress the magazine catch.
51) Figure 51 shows the right side of the magazine group. Note the magazine catch is depressed and the magazine catch lock is in the locked position.
52) While the magazine catch is depressed turn the magazine catch lock (screw) counter clockwise about 90 degrees to around the 112 o'clock position. This will unlock the magazine catch lock.
53) Slide out of the right side of the pistol frame the magazine catch group/assembly.
54) Push the trigger to the rear.
55) Remove the trigger.

Reassembly Instructions

56) Replace the trigger.
57) Figure 57 shows the rear view of the trigger correctly installed.
58) Figure 58 shows the front view of the trigger correctly installed.
59) Insert through the right side of the pistol frame the magazine catch group/assembly.
60) While depressing the magazine catch, turn the magazine catch lock screw clockwise 90 degrees to around the three o'clock position. Release the magazine catch and the magazine catch group will be  locked into place, holding the trigger in place.
61) Assemble the disconnector and sear.
62) Figure 62 shows the correctly assembled sear and disconnector.
63) Install the sear/disconnector assembly into the frame.  Figure 63 shows the top of the disconnector sticking up and out of the pistol frame.
64) Figure 64 shows the pistol frame pictured upside down with the sear and disconnector correctly installed with the sear lug (small flat paddle) against the rear of the trigger.
65) Place a small gauge punch in as a guide to help keep the sear and disconnector aligned while sliding in the sear pin.
66) While leaving the punch in, slide in the sear pin
67) Sliding in the sear pin will push the punch out.
68) Install the hammer group.
69) Insert the hammer pin
70) Figure 70 shows the installed hammer group and hammer pin.
71) Pivot the hammer strut up and insert the sear spring.
72) Install the grip safety.
73) Reinstall the slide stop plunger and safety plunger.
74) Install the safety. You should compress the safety plunger slightly to allow the safety to be installed.
75) Reinstall the mainspring housing assembly.
76) Insert the main spring housing pin.
77) Lightly tap the main spring housing pin into place.
78) Insert the extractor with the firing pin stop groove pointing to the left.

DESCRIPTION

A Slide Stop Pin Hole/Barrel Linkage Hole
B Rear, Small, Circular Notch
C Rear Slide Stop Hole
D Plunger

100) Insert the the pin of the slide stop into the slide stop hole. While pressing in the slide stop it may be necessary to slightly compress the plunger so the slide stop snaps into place. I usually use a small punch or flat blade jeweler's screwdriver. Cycle the slide to make sure the barrel stays in place and does not move. If the barrel moves freely then you most likely did not insert the slide stop pin into the barrel linkage hole. This is easily remedied by removing the slide stop and realigning the slide, frame, and barrel linkage hole.
101) Slide the slide forward.
102) Figure 102 shows the position the barrel bushing needs to be in to be inserted into the slide.
103) Insert the barrel bushing and rotate clockwise all the way. Figure 103 shows the position the barrel bushing needs to be in for you to be able to insert the recoil spring and recoil spring plug.
104) Insert the recoil spring and recoil spring plug.
105) Compress the recoil spring and recoil spring plug.
106) While holding the recoil spring plug down, rotate the barrel bushing counter-clockwise until the barrel bushing locks the recoil spring plug into place.
107) Figure 107 shows the barrel bushing locking the recoil spring plug into place.
108) Cycle the slide to ensure proper operation.
109) Figure 109 shows the reassembled 1911 pistol.
