Loading Operations

 
Loading of the Nagant is accomplished by swinging the loading gate out and inserting cartridges one at a time.
 

 
Figure Loading 2 shows the loading gate open.
 

 
Figure Loading 3 shows inserting a single cartridge. Then the cylinder is rotated and each empty chamber is loaded. Once finished the loading gate is closed and the pistol is ready to be fired.
 

 
Unloading spent cartridges is simple to accomplish by opening the loading gate and and pivoting the ejector rod so it can enter the front of the cylinder and push the spent cases tot he rear.
