Unloading

To unload: with the rifle pointed in a safe direction open the bolt and remove the extracted cartridge.

Rotate the rifle counter clockwise and depress the magazine release.

Remove the magazine with cartridges and inspect the breech of the rifle to ensure there are no more cartridges within the weapon.

Safety Operation

Safety Note

When shooting, make sure the cam follower is pushed all the way forward as shown above before firing the rifle.
The photo above shows the cocking piece resting in the fire position. This will allow the firing pin to impact the cartridge's primer resulting in ignition of the powder.

Just for reference the picture above shows the cocking piece resting between the fire and safety slots. This will prevent the firing pin from moving further and will allow for the bolt to be removed. This should not be used as a safe position because you can inadvertently turn the cocking piece counter clockwise and drop it into the fire slot. This position should be used for disassembly of the bolt only.

When the cocking piece is pulled rearward and turned clockwise, the cocking piece sear can be placed in the safety slot in the bolt plug. The safety slot is shorter than the firing slot; because of this it is impossible for the firing pin to protrude past the face of the bolt. The bolt also cannot be opened.
